Gloria lo hac\u00eda lo mejor que pod\u00eda como madre joven. Durante los seis primeros meses de vida de Claudia, todo parec\u00eda ir bien.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>La familia vive en un peque\u00f1o terreno a las afueras de la ciudad de Gulu, en Uganda. Tienen una casa con techo de paja rodeada de mangos y un \u00e1rbol de jaca. Y el a\u00f1o en que naci\u00f3 Claudia, como parte de un programa gubernamental de abastecimiento de agua y saneamiento, se perfor\u00f3 un pozo para buscar agua a s\u00f3lo tres minutos a pie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Cuando Claudia ten\u00eda unos siete meses, Gloria se dio cuenta de que ya no era el beb\u00e9 feliz de antes. Lloraba mucho. Y segu\u00eda perdiendo peso a pesar de que segu\u00eda d\u00e1ndole el pecho.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>El centro m\u00e9dico m\u00e1s cercano est\u00e1 a casi 30 minutos, pero Gloria sab\u00eda que algo iba mal, as\u00ed que recogi\u00f3 a su beb\u00e9 y emprendi\u00f3 el viaje.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Claudia y su beb\u00e9 en el suelo\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/www.feedthechildren.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/claudia-and-her-baby-sitting.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>El instinto materno suele ser el correcto: Claudia dio positivo en la prueba del paludismo y, a los siete meses, s\u00f3lo pesaba 13 libras.
