Vive en Filipinas, cerca de la costa de Visayan. La casa de la familia est\u00e1 en los barrios bajos. El tejado es de hojalata y las paredes son una mezcla de tablas desgastadas y tela. La casa no protege de los elementos, sobre todo durante la estaci\u00f3n de los monzones de verano.<\/p>\n<p>Los padres de Lemuel tienen un puesto de comida y venden carne a la barbacoa todas las noches a la puerta de su casa. Con este negocio ganan unos 300 pesos al d\u00eda, es decir, casi $6,00. Los ingresos diarios de su familia son inferiores al salario m\u00ednimo de una hora en Estados Unidos, lo que no basta para alimentar a una familia de siete miembros.<\/p>\n<p>Lemuel es muy consciente de las circunstancias de su familia y siente el deber de ayudar. Es el mayor, as\u00ed que trabaja despu\u00e9s del colegio como \"recogepelotas\" en la pista de tenis local. Lemuel lleva el uniforme debajo de la ropa del colegio, para poder ir directamente a trabajar despu\u00e9s de las clases. Todos los d\u00edas trabaja de 17.00 a 23.00 horas, y a veces alg\u00fan amable tenista le invita a cenar. Los ingresos de Lemuel van a parar a su madre para ayudar a comprar comida para la familia y pa\u00f1ales para su hermano menor.<\/p>\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de los d\u00edas, Lemuel va a la escuela con hambre. A veces falta a clase porque no tiene nada que comer por las ma\u00f1anas. Cuando hay actividades extraescolares, Lemuel pide permiso. Dedica el tiempo extra a recoger materiales reciclados para venderlos. Quiere recibir una educaci\u00f3n, pero las circunstancias de su familia le impiden permitirse comprar material escolar. <\/p>\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de Feed the Children, Lemuel recibi\u00f3 una mochila, material escolar y zapatos.
